Widely used in construction and building materials industry. It is chemically calcium dihydroxide. The hydrate is the end product obtained by "slaking" with water of crushed quicklime in devices called hydrators.
Very good connection of masonry elements (cellular concrete, silicate brick, red brick), excellent adhesion of the mortar to the substrate, has bactericidal and disinfecting properties, which prevents the development of fungi and molds, creating a favorable microclimate in living rooms, provides the plasters with water vapor permeability, which prevents the accumulation of moisture in the walls, reduces the formation of salt efflorescence, has the ability to self-healing microcracks. Application: for masonry and plastering mortars, for the production of construction chemicals, including for ready-made masonry and plaster mixes, for the production of mineral paints, in environmental protection (e.g. for drinking water treatment).
